Poker in the Pub

Poker in the Pub Online League

The second Poker in the Pub Online League starts on Sunday, 3rd August 2008 at 4pm, and will run for the next 10 successive Sundays thereafter. This league will be hosted on the TheRivercard.com, which will run hand in hand with the live Poker in the Pub league, and offer Regional final qualifications (subject to Terms and Conditions) to the top online Poker in the Pub players.

In essence, this is a Poker in the Pub game, but online. We are not trying to detract from players supporting their local venues, we are trying to offer more chances for players to qualify for their Regional finals, and this could also create more spaces within local venues also.

The first online league ran from May 25th to July 13th and over 120 people have played on the league with the top 7 qualified people getting a seat in July's Poker in the Pub Regional Finals.

How it works

Every Sunday for 10 weeks, a tournament will be created on TheRivercard.com that is a Poker in the Pub NLHE Multi Table Tournament. Players will register and play the tourney to its completion, and score points for their finishing position, which will then be recorded and uploaded into a cumulative League table, and displayed on both the Poker in the Pub website and The Rivercard forum.

The top percentage of players, providing they fulfil qualifying criteria, at the end of the season, will win a place in their respective Poker in the Pub Regional final at the end of the season:

1 - 10 players per week 3 Regional places
11 - 20 4 places
21 - 30 5 places
31 - 40 6 places
And so on.

There will also be a cash prize pool, taken directly from the individual tournament buy ins, which will be awarded to the next percentage of players once the Regional places have been awarded.

These will be distributed as follows:

1 - 10 players per week top 3 Regionals, 4th gets 70% cash pot, 5th gets 30%
11 - 20 top 4 Regionals, 5th gets 55% cash pot, 6th 30%, and 7th 15%
21 - 30 top 5 Regionals 6th gets 40% cash pot, 7th 30%, 8th 20%, and 9th 10%
31 - 40 top 6 Regionals, 7th gets 30%, 8th 25%, 9th 20%, 10th, 15%, 11th and 12th 5%
And so on.

Every week, within 24 hours, the results from the tournament will be collated and points awarded, using the same Poker in the Pub points scoring system as usual, and the updated league table displayed.

How much does it cost?

The buy in for a normal weekly game is $4 + $0.40 – a few pence over £2, which equates to 50p over what would cost to play Poker in the Pub at your local venue on a pay to play basis.

Freeroll

Once the league is complete every player that has played for 7 – 10 weeks will be eligible to enter a Freeroll and compete for a money prize.

Qualifying Procedures

As previously stated we do not want this to detract in any way from live Poker in the Pub venues, and feel this should not be the case, as it is aimed at those who find it easier to play online than maybe attend certain venues during the week and also aims to create more qualifying spaces. This aim is primarily to give another dimension to playing Poker in the Pub and also attract new players.

However, whilst the online league is open to all and sundry via TheRivercard.com, there are strict rules in place to enable players to qualify for the Poker in the Pub Regional finals.

Terms & Conditions

Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully before playing the Online Poker in the Pub Sunday league:

  1. Anyone/everyone is welcome to play a weekly tournament. However, no cash will be paid out until the end of the season (no weekly cash prizes, just Poker in the Pub points for the online league being played for per week
  2. Anyone who finishes in a Regional final qualifying place MUST HAVE PLAYED AT LEAST 5 GAMES THAT SEASON IN A LIVE Poker in the Pub VENUE, OR CUMULATIVELY OVER THE SEASON AT MULTI VENUES. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REGIONAL FINAL SEAT. However, you would be eligible for the cash prize payouts.
  3. Any player who qualifies for Regional finals via the online Sunday league AND by playing a live Poker in the Pub venue, will qualify through the online league, thus creating another place in that venue for the next placed HSQ - again, more chances for people to qualify.
  4. Any eligible qualifying player for the Regional Finals will attend the Regional final local to that player and their venue in line with times/dates as advertised on the Rivercard forum.
  5. Players winning cash prizes at the league end will have these paid direct into their Rivercard account with 72 hours of the league completion. A full notice of "who has won what" will be displayed on the league website/forum.

The format of the games will be similar to a usual Poker in the Pub format – 2,000 starting chips, usual blinds, though levels will last 10 minutes, as opposed to the usual 15.
