The G Cup this coming bank holiday weekend

The G Casino in Newcastle plays host to The G Cup this coming bank holiday weekend, with teams of 10 players each trying to win the first tournament in what is scheduled to be an annual event.

The new Poker in the Pub logo will be on display as a team made up of players from North East venues playing Poker in the Pub has been entered to take on the cream of poker players from the North East. The team was organised by Ally Mooney, North East agent for Poker in the Pub and it is no surprise that the team consists mainly of players from his own venue, Travellers Rest in Gateshead.

What might be surprising is that the team includes three players who have won the Poker in the Pub North East regional final, and but for the late withdrawal of James Marston, who also qualified for the last Vegas trip that number would have been four.

The full team is:

Ally Mooney Travellers Rest Poker in the Pub North East agent, runs Travellers Rest Poker in the Pub and team captain.
Colin Turnbull Washington Westwood/Travellers Rest Qualifies for almost every regional final and regular qualifier for nationals
Brian Byrne Travellers Rest Went out on bubble at last Poker in the Pub national final and probably best player in team.
Tony Turnbull Travellers Rest Current Poker in the Pub North East regional champion. Tightest player alive.
Keith Foster Travellers Rest Previous North East Poker in the Pub regional champion,
Michael McGorlick Travellers Rest Previous North East Poker in the Pub regional champion and Las Vegas qualifier.
Sean Hodgson Travellers Rest/Azure Blue Good young player with uncanny knack of naming opponents cards.
Paul Hodgson Travellers Rest Very consistent player - qualifies for most Poker in the Pub regional final. Almost as tight as Tony.
Lee Blood Azure Blue Currently runs Poker in the Pub in Azure Blue. Unknown quantity of the team.
Jeffrey Lowther Travellers Rest Has made numerous Poker in the Pub regional finals. One of the more aggressive players in team.

The team has a good balance with some very aggressive players, some very tight players and the remaining players somewhere in between. If nothing else I am sure that the team will have a great day and photos and a full report will be available after the event.

The team will be sporting Burgundy polo tops with the new Poker in the Pub logo, which is very smart and I believe the website is currently being updated and everyone will see the new logo very soon.

As captain of the team I'd like to wish all the players the very best of luck and hope they have a great weekend. Let's show the 'casino' regulars that pub poker players do know how to play the game. Any North East Poker in the Pub players are more than welcome to pop along to the G casino on Saturday and Sunday to provide support to the team. Cards are in the air at 2pm each day. One time.........
