Frequently Asked Questions for Venue Owners

Below is a selection of some of our most frequently asked questions. If you still can't find the answer you are after please contact us.

  • Do I need a gaming licence?

No you do not need a licence.  Poker in the Pub is played as a league and is an entertainment night only.  No gambling takes place.

  • Do you supply an agent?

No we do not supply agents to run your night and in our experience we have found that evenings run best with the pub's staff looking after the poker.  It's very straightforward and what a lot of our venues do is ask a player to help out if they have any difficulties.

  • I don't know anything about poker what can I do?

Again if you are unaware about poker, you can visit our free guide on www.pokerinthepub.com with details about how to play.  You will find that one of your players will know how to play poker and can help you and the other players.

  • Where are my players Regional Finals?

Please see below for each regional final location:

South East                                          - G Casino, Brighton

    South West                                         - Grosvenor, Plymouth

North West                                         - Circus Casino, Liverpool

North East/Yorkshire                             - Curcus Casino, Newcastle

    Scotland                                            - Mint Casino, Glasgow

Midlands                                            - The G Casino, Walsall

(All of these are subject to change)

  • Can I charge my players?

Players should not be charged.  If you are unsure about this please go to www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk then click on FAQ'S, playing poker in pubs.

  • Can I leave the league whenever I like if it doesn't work?

Yes it's very straightforward if you start and feel it's not working in your venue you can just stop.  Please do give us a call and we will make arrangements to cancel your venue from the league.

  • What if another venue in my area sets up - what happens?

Sometimes this happens but we encourage the venue to do a different night to the existing one; this can be helpful to a venue as it can build a community of players who wish to play on more than one evening.

  • How many qualifiers do I get?

This depends on how many players you get on average per week; however each venue is guaranteed a minimum of 3 players. For more information see the How to Qualify page.

  • What happens if I forget my password to login?

For security reasons your password is encrypted so we are unable to send you your password however we do have a page available that allows you to reset your password yourself. Visit the Forgotten Password page and enter your email address in order to reset your password. Once you have logged in with your new password you can change it to something more memorable.

  • Can I delete some of my players who don't play anymore?

No the system will not allow anybody to delete players that have played games, however if there is a duplicate player they can be merged. Please contact us about merging duplicate players.

  • What makes your league different to others?

All leagues are different and it all depends on what the venue needs.  We spend a substantial amount of money on our prizes and do not charge the players.  This encourages players to come and play as they do not need to pay anything.

  • I am not very good at computers how can you help me?

We have guides on our website and crib sheets that can be sent to you. You can contact us by email or phone our office on 01752 484253 between 9am-5.30 pm for any help.

  • I have a player who cannot make it to the Regional Finals - can I replace them?

Yes you can.  We appreciate timings can be difficult for some people and so we have a rule that you can go to the next three spaces down but no further.

  • Do you supply equipment?

We have excellent pricing from our suppliers which we pass onto you.  The equipment then becomes your property. You can purchase equipment through our online store.

  • How long has your league been running?

Poker in the Pub started in 2005. As a company we have a wealth of knowledeg and experience in marketing and the poker industry.
